Every year, we lose 3,000 Australians to suicide. That's over 8 of us per day. 75% of these people are men. In the country where over 80 of us gather to celebrate the Mr. World Festival, the statistics here in Vietnam are devastatingly nearly 40,000 cases per year. Something must be done, and something can be done. My mission is clear. To advocate for men's mental health through the Lifting the Weight campaign. This initiative aims to inspire men to reach out for help, to check in on their mates, and to foster an environment where we can openly discuss mental health struggles. Importantly, this message extends to everyone, regardless of gender. We've been conditioned to uphold a facade of strength, to mask our pain, and to deny our discomfort as if it's a badge of honour. But this mindset has led to many men to suffer in silence. Throughout my life, I've been an advocate for speaking out and checking in on one another. Through social media, I actively engage in conversations that dismantle the stigma surrounding mental health. I promote support networks that provide vital resources for those in need. It is okay not to be okay. Let's shift the narrative. Let's encourage one another to share our struggles, to lift the weight we carry, and to remind each other that seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness. Together, we can create a community where everyone feels safe to express their feelings and reach out for support. Join me in the Lifting the Weight campaign, where we can make a difference, one conversation at a time.
