When I became Mr. Royal Belgium, they asked me what charity cause I would support. I quickly had an answer. Hypo-therapy. Horses have an important place in my life. I've been horseback riding since I was a young boy, and soon after that I discovered the hypo-therapy sessions. They helped me a lot because I got bullied in school and I became a very introvert. I studied to become a teacher and I worked with children during holidays on daily camps. In summer I am the head leader of an organization for active daycare. Beauty with a purpose as a concept allows me now to become the very best version of myself. With my title I can give back to the community and the vulnerable children. With some mini-horses I went to a home for children with disabilities. I have such a great respect for all those people who work daily with these children. We approached the children carefully with the horses, so they were able to touch them, hug them or just smell them, because some of those children are blind or they can't use their hands. I was so happy to see how they got so excited for how they could interact with the horses. It's truly a very good feeling. I also work with a horse therapy center in a riding school, where the children come for one hour a week to interact with the horses. They use emotion cards, blindfolds or a trail of obstacles to learn to trust another, but they also study the children in how they react when they are around an animal that can sense their emotions and feelings. Hypotherapy helps reducing symptoms of PTSD, depression and anxiety, while enhancing emotional, well-being and self-confidence, especially with children. You can see that this cause combines my two passions, horses and children. I am very happy that I can share this with you. You can see that this cause combines my two passions, horses and children. I am very happy that I can align those and make a difference. Helping some children with their mental health and empowering young people to face this world, that is my dream. Thank you for listening to my story.
