Hello, I'm Megha Suryarachchi, and as Mr. World Sri Lanka 2024, it's a privilege to share the vision behind the foundation of change. Our mission is deeply rooted in the belief that empowering grassroots communities is the key to creating a brighter future where every child has the opportunity to thrive. However, the reality we face here in Sri Lanka is concerning. About three to four percent of students drop out before completing their primary education. In secondary education, approximately 20 to 25 percent of students do not complete their ordinary level exams, which leaves them without the essential skills for the future. Around 50 to 60 percent of those who pass our level proceed to advanced level education, meaning many either drop out or choose vocational paths. Of those who start A-level, about 10 to 15 percent do not complete the exams, often due to economic factors or a lack of interest in higher education. These statistics underscore the challenges that children are facing, which is why our work is so crucial. We provide educational resources for children who are facing economic hardships and tutoring for those in need. But we know it takes more than academics to succeed. We offer counselling for children and parents, helping families create strong, nurturing households. We also address domestic issues with the resource personnel to solve challenges at the root, fostering a supportive environment for children. Moreover, we focus on health needs, bringing essential medical resources and trained personnel to ensure access to care for every child and family. A healthy community is foundational for every child's growth. Our goal is to empower communities to build their futures and support their children becoming resilient leaders. By strengthening families and enhancing education and health, we are investing in the future of our children and communities. At the foundation of change, we are here to create a lasting impact, one community at a time.
